When stress and undischarged emotional energy builds up in the muscles and tissues of the body the natural flow of energy through the body is impaired. The aim of biodynamic massage is to dissolve these blocks and imbalances to restore health and equilibrium.
What does Biodynamic Massage Therapy do?
Biodynamic Massage is a process where client and therapist work together to explore and gain a deeper understanding into the possible psychological and emotional roots of physical symptoms. Biodynamic Massage works by helping us digest stress. Rebalancing our breathing and the autonomic nervous system and bringing tone to those tissues and muscles that are under-toned and in doing so help restore the natural free flow of energy. What to expect After an initial consultation to ensure that Biodynamic Massage Therapy is suitable for you, we would usually arrange six one hour sessions at weekly intervals. Sessions usually start with a brief review of progress and a brief time to rest at the end. The massage usually involves skin contact but you can receive the massage clothed or partly clothed, as you wish. You will be kept warm and comfortable at all times and your privacy is ensured throughout the session. Some of its techniques are based on methods used in Norwegian physiotherapy and Swedish massage. However the word massage can be misleading. In Biodynamic Massage the primarily focus is not the manipulation of muscle tissue to ease aches and pains. But rather to support the clients awareness toward a deeper relationship with their body as an integral and extremely valuable part of the whole self. How long before I feel a benefit? You are likely to experience some benefit from a few sessions but if you want a sustained change this is only possible by regular sessions over a period of weeks and months. |
