PROCESS ORIENTED PRACTITIONER
... we can learn to approach life differently and in doing so, move through the world with a greater sense of trust and certainty. This, in turn, enables us to express ourselves more fully and become more energised and in tune with our environment. And in doing so, find meaning and purpose in our everyday actions.
As a Process Oriented Practitioner, I will not seek to label you or focus on what is 'wrong'. Quite the contrary… I believe that the symptoms that have led you to therapy are letting you know that something in your environment requires attention. Not unlike the warning lights in a car, symptoms provide us with the information we need to adjust our actions in accordance with the environment as it unfolds.
Framed in this context, symptoms such as 'depression' and 'anxiety' are not only useful; they are an essential sign of health. Listening to them rather than trying to suppress them or get rid of them – leads us naturally into a deeper understanding of self and the work required to free ourselves from those life situations which are no longer acceptable.
Symptoms and issues people routinely bring to work with:
· unexplained body symptoms
· loss of direction and meaning
· the inner critic
· shame and guilt
· loss of creativity
· early trauma and/or neglect
· bereavement and loss
What you can expect from our work together
Relationships thrive in spaces that are mutually respectful and democratic. In using the word democratic, I am not referring to the Greek, "Demo-Kratie" – government by the people – but instead, the deep democracy outlined by Arnold Mindell. Deep democracy requires the loving and respectful inclusion of all levels of reality.
An essential part of deep democracy is learning to bring a neutral curiosity to whatever is unfolding. This enables both facilitator and client to evoke meaning rather than impose meaning. To receive whatever is unfolding. And to enact rather than describe what is happening.
As a process orientated practitioner, my approach is 'collaboratively invented', improvised and created from session to session, from moment to moment.
Qualifications and experience
My background is eclectic, and I draw on the teachings of Process Work, Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and creative improvisation. My studies have taken me to Portland Oregon, Los Angeles, Arizona, Paris and Budapest. In 2017, I completed a 1-year training in Process Work in Tavistock, London, and I am in the process of deepening my understanding of Process Work with the Process Work Institute in Portland, Oregon.
Other significant influences on my practice include a 4-year mentorship programme with Professors Bradford and Hilary Keeney (Sacred Ecstatics), The London Institute of Creativity, and Bryon Katie's "The Work”. I am a student of Vipassana Meditation and a father. I have been practicing Vipassana for 16 years and being a father for 24 years.
I see a diverse range of individuals, couples and groups. I am interested in world work and building community. I particularly enjoy working with people in their 20's and 30's who want to claim back their energy/passion for life, and find their unique essence and with it, a sense of meaningful purpose.
I offer face-to-face appointments in Macclesfield, as well as online appointments via zoom.
Sessions usually last one hour*.
I have a sliding scale for fees which currently stands at £55 - £75 per hour dependent upon individual circumstances. This is something we can discuss during the initial consultation.
If we decide to work together you will be asked to complete a Declaration of Participant Awareness. The purpose of this document is to ensure that our relationship is based on a clear understanding of how we will work together.
*Please note that occasionally, a session may last longer than one hour if the work we are immersed in requires it, however, I will always check prior to our session re any restrictions on your time.
