The practice of paying attention to the Present Moment
The mind, left to itself, wanders all over the place - to the past, to the future.
Thinking about a past, we can no longer change leads to a sense of hopelessness thinking about the future, a place we can’t control, to anxiety and fear.
Meditation (mindfulness) is a practice that purposefully directs our awareness to the present moment.
To become aware of the present moment, with its sensations, thoughts, feelings, arising and passing away.
The experience is judged as neither good nor bad, pleasant or unpleasant. That is to say we do not react emotionally.
In doing so, we learn to develop a still and balanced mind - an accepting and compassionate mind.
To create a space where peace, calmness and contentment grow.
At Silk House Therapy Practice, we hold regular events and practice sessions in different approaches to meditation/mindfulness. These include sitting and moving practices drawing on well-established techniques.
