Person Centred Counsellor
John is a fully qualified counsellor, a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and has been practising for 8 years. Whilst John’s core therapeutic approach is person-centred, he integrates transactional, cognitive, mindfulness and existential elements into his work.
John is interested in the work of lasting change which, in his experience, comes from turning towards our feelings and questioning previously held thoughts and beliefs. In learning to accept and trust our feelings and experiences we come to act on them in new and empowering ways - ways which cannot be forgotten.
John trained as a counsellor at Manchester Metropolitan University (Cert HE Counselling) and the University of Salford (PgDip Counselling and Psychotherapy).
He has helped clients in many areas such as:
- Depression & anxiety
- Family and relationship issues
- Vulnerability & shame
- Anger, passivity and passive aggressive behaviour
- Male and female identity and self-image
- Workplace difficulties and bullying
- Historic childhood abuse
- Bereavement and loss
- Feeling lost or stuck
- Unexpected life crises
John's background includes 20 years working in business and, having made a series of life changes in his journey to becoming a therapist, is particularly passionate about the role of therapy in helping us grow to fulfil our unique potential - no matter where our starting point.
